Bilan 2010 by Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and Google

The Year 2010 by Youtube :

By Facebook :

To get the top trends, Facebook analyzed status updates across 236 countries, comparing the rate at which each phrase occurred in 2010 compared to 2009. The results above are the ones that had increased by both a large percentage and a large volume.

Trends that correspond to the most popular phrases on Google and Twitter in 2010 were the World Cup, Haiti, mineros/miners (referring to the trapped Chilean miners), the iPad and iPhone 4 and the inevitable Justin Bieber.

Facebook users also talked a lot about movies (in general), airplanes (referring to the song “Airplanes” by B.o.B. feat. Hayley Williams), games on Facebook, and, of course, the next year – 2011.

You can find some additional details about each phrase over on Facebook's official blog :

Qué bonito Israel

Three singers from South America pay tribute to Israel with this magnificent song.
The two girls are from Peru where they are top celebrities, and the guy is from Ecuador, who's recently been declared national hero.
They all have strong references : Tigresa del Oriente, the lavish diva, became famous with her song dedicated to John-Paul II. Delfin Quishpe, the guy, always dresses like Elvis and exploded the charts with a song on the Twin Towers.

The evolution of the media industry...

... seems to lay in the I-pad.

Below the explanation of the new I-pad application, that may announces a new way to get information..through your relationships.

Named Flipboard, the application is presented as a "personnalized social magazine".It extends links your friends and contacts are sharing on Facebook and Twitter into beautifully packaged articles. The app also comes with existing content from third-party providers.

While early iPad apps based on magazines are cool to flip through and pleasing to the eye, they are largely cut-and-paste jobs that place existing content into digital form. Sure, there are elements of interactivity and forward-thinking sales promotions, but no standalone magazine app to date has stretched the imagination of what can be accomplished on an iPad or tablet computing device.

Flipboard, while far from perfect, is a good step in that direction. It’s hard to imagine, much less replicate, the app’s socially-driven construct in any other form. The context of where articles are coming from is more significant than the content within them.

Pay attention to not only how this app evolves in the weeks and months ahead, but also how traditional publishers respond to and cherry-pick its most innovative elements.

Check out Flipboard's promotional video below.

Most people tagged in one picture - world record attempt

World Record Attempt- How Many Facebook Tags Fits In A 1.3 Giga-pixel Image

GlastoTag, a project that went live today, is attempting to break the world record for most people tagged in one picture.

The project? A 1.3 giga-pixel image that captured 70,000 fans who watched the England vs Slovenia World Cup match.

Using two 50 mega-pixel Hasselblad H4D-50 cameras equipped with a 150mm lens on top and a 100mm lens with tilt-shift adaptors on bottom, 36 images were stitched together to have it horizontally pan 180 degrees to fit the entire 350 meter wide field. The cameras were linked vertically and were manually rotated to record every 10 degree increment. With its incredibly high resolution, the image was able to capture minute details that make even the furthest audience members recognizable. By using Facebook integration, the project asks the event’s participants to tag themselves and friends.

About Banksy

The graffiti artist Banksy, a 30 year-old man from Bristol, has become internationally famous with his underground works of art.

Banksy has managed to tag walls in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans and the Palestinian segregation wall in the West Bank, among others, and has remained anonymous through his "career" to avoid prosecution.

At the beginning of 2010, his movie : Exit Through the Gift Shop was showed at the Sundance festival. The plot follows an eccentric French fan attempting to find and befriend Banksy.

According to Sundance festival director John Cooper, "Exit Through the Gift Shop is one of those films that comes along once in a great while, a warped hybrid of reality and self -induced fiction while at the same time a totally entertaining experience. The story is so bizarre I began to question if it could even be real... but in the end I didn't care. I feel bad I won't be able to shake the filmmaker’s hand and tell him how much I love this film. I think I will shake everyone's hand that day and hope I hit on Banksy somewhere. I love his work in all forms.”

The art of translation

What happens when you translate idioms litteraly?
You need to speak both langages to get the message.

This newspeak is a third language that nobody understand.

In such a world, a lover would cut a pipe. A morron would be proud like a louse and in winter you would shout out "what a duck's cold".

At last, you would spend your time turning around the jar.

The hero of the day

Screamin' Jay Hawkins (1929 - 2000)

Famed for his powerful and almost operatic vocal performances.
A former middleweight boxing champion of Alaska.
He transformed a refined ballad in a savage scream for lust by getting drunk during the recording session.
The performance ended with Hawkins blackout. He could'nt remember the session so had to relearn the song from the recorded version.

And thus, invented rock'n roll
